Omar-S – Detroit (Fabric 45)
Submitted by David Minutillo 02/04/2009

omarFabric is a name synonymous with quality, hand stitched minimal tech. Each of the releases they have let fly, have been nothing but cream and sugar, going all the way back to “Fabric 01 - Craig Richards” (released October, 2001). They are true Stalwarts of this sexy genre that has made its path mostly through underground undergrowth in much the same manner as Omar-S has.

Omar S isn’t a mainstream spinner like many of the other big hitting names that have popped up on the Fabric tins. He is a straight shooting, no fuss DJ and Producer with indulgent self belief in his Detroit styled tech and house, choosing to release all his cuts on his label “FXHE”. “Fabric 45” being no exception to his ‘if you want something done right, do it yourself’ rule;

“Over the last year I haven’t really been feeling anybody’s music... I’d rather do a mix for Fabric that’s all my own shit, because there are still a lot of people out there that don’t know about FXHE or Omar-S” he says.

All the tracks on this masterfully eclectic weave are his own. “Striders World”with its Nintendo generation sounds is a well balanced work of art that sets the listener up to expect the unexpected.  For those of you that are new to the sounds of Omar-S tracks like “Psychotic Photosynthesis”, “Oasis One” and “Blade Runner”  are what it’s all about.  And for those that are looking for the “House” in all this check out the smooth beats and vocals of “The Maker” and “Set Me Out”.

There are also several unreleased tracks onboard this sonic compilation for those that are after the so far unheard. “Flying Gorgars” really tickles something within with its deep and stylish beats in much the same way as “Crusin Conant” does.

Fabric have come to the party yet again by bringing this obscure purist to the forefront, and to repay the favour Omar-S has got the speakers humming with this big bag of party tricks. And for those that like what they hear go back and collect the other 44 wondrous compilations any way you can.
