Kaskade - Strobelite Seduction
Submitted by James Broadhurst 20/01/2009
When an artist strays from ‘their winning formula’ the results are nearly always interesting and whether their project turns out to be the next big thing or crashes and burns you have to admire the artist for taking a chance.
Taking a chance is what Kaskade, aka Ryan Raddon, has done with Strobelite Seduction, his latest album project, as he has abandoned the guitar-laden tracks of his previous albums, In The Moment and Love Mysterious, to return to his deep house roots.
It might be a little unfair to say he has abandoned the more accessible elements of his previous albums, which catapulted this San Francisco based house DJ onto the global scene, as Kaskade has found a different way to connect with fans of his earlier and more current works.
Strobelite Seduction bridges the gap between commercial and underground house with lush vocals, subtle grooves and mild mannered electro vibes that testify to Kaskade’s ability to capture the attention of DJs, producers and promoters from a variety of stylistic persuasions.
The vocals are definitely a highlight on Strobelite Seduction and the talents of Haley Gibby on ‘Move With Me’ and ‘Step One Two’ really take Kaskade’s productions to another level and these two tracks are probably the ones that will find favour with radio DJs all over the globe.
Fans of Kaskade’s earlier works will probably take a liking to the deeper and minimal sounds of ‘I’ll Never Dream’ and house fans will definitely dig the uplifting and epic tracks like ‘I Remember’ and ‘Angel On My Shoulder.’
The title of most emotive track on Strobelite Seduction has to go to ‘Your Love Is Black,’ the beautiful acoustic number that stands in a league of its own and shows Kaskade still has the potential to successfully tackle something outside of his known abilities as a producer and musician.
Strobelite Seduction is brilliant because fans of his earlier works will be able to appreciate and admire his new style while current fans will be rewarded with something completely different to what many of his more mainstream peers are putting out at the moment.
If you haven’t heard much from the man they call Kaskade there has never been a better time to get acquainted.
