Stanton Sessions Volume Three
Submitted by James Broadhurst 28/10/2008

The Stanton Warriors are an award winning production duo, aka Mark Yardley and Dominic Butle, from the UK who have been at the very top of the breakbeat scene for more than a decade.
Their thoroughbred brand of breakbeat has won them fans all over the globe and plenty of accolades including awards for being voted as Number One DJs in polls undertaken by Breakspoll and DJ Magazine and, more recently, the Stanton Warriors were included in DJ Magazines 50 Best Remixers of All Time.
Their Sessions albums are amongst some of the most anticipated in the dance music scene and when they announced they would be teaming up with London’s Fabric for Stanton Sessions Volume Three, breakbeat fans couldn’t help but salivate over the prospect.
Stanton Sessions Volume Three is a snapshot of where the Stanton Warriors are musically at the moment and contains a smashing collection of remixes, edits and previously unreleased material that will have fans shouting at their CD players for more well after the album has played through.
The mix starts in a typically distinctive way with an audio collage of samples and audio snippets that heighten the senses and gets you in the mood for breakbeat at its very best.
It is raw, it is real and it is everything a good breakbeat album should be.
Tony Vegas from the Scratch Perverts says Stanton Sessions Volume Three is one of the most exciting mixes he has heard in years, which is quite something considering he flicks and switches between tracks faster than a revved up DJ at a drum and bass gig.
This is undoubtedly one of the Stanton’s boldest projects to date as they have relicked a number of contemporary dance music tracks to give them a classy breakbeat flavour and their adventurous remixes are what makes Stanton Sessions Volume Three so damn good.
Their breakbeat take on A-Track’s remix of ‘Oh!’ by Boyz Noise is innovative, different and completely dance worthy while the Warriors’ breaks edit of ‘Signatune’ by DJ Medhi breaths new life into an already brilliant tune.
So how does volume three in the sessions compare to number’s one and two? It does not. It is in a league of it’s own, even for the Warriors.
Stanton Sessions Volume Three will leave fans of breakbeat in a spin and for those who have not yet discovered the sounds of the Warriors, there has never been a better time to start.
If you only buy one album this month make sure it is this one.
