Various - Parklife 2008
Submitted by James Broadhurst 23/05/2008

Ministry Of Sound and Fuzzy have teamed up to deliver the second Parklife compilation, a special collection of beats, breaks and basslines from a smorgasbord of artists on this years line up.

This compilation is exactly what it says on the tin and if you are looking for a way to commemorate your Parklife experience there is no equal.

With tracks from all the big names on this years line up the 2008 Parklife compilation provides a musical snapshot of what will be heard at this year’s festival.

The track selection is good, but leaves a little to be desired. One gets the feeling the ‘chart toppers’ have been included over tracks that, perhaps, reflect the artists and the music they stand for a little better.

The Bamboos, a funk and soul ensemble from the eastern states, have made many better tunes than ‘I Don’t Wanna Stop,’ which is featured on this compilation (although it doesn't really matter because The Bamboos are only touring on the east coast), and the Plump DJs latest album, Headthrash, has tunes that more accurately reflect the music the Plump DJs stand for than what is featured on this compilation.

In saying this, the parklife compilation is not a ground breaking collection of music, but rather, exactly what it should be, a good souvenir to commemorate your Parklife experience.

Perfect for pre-Parklife drinks or deciding who you will see on the day.
