Fabric Live 39 – DJ Yoda
Submitted by James Broadhurst 15/04/2008

Those who missed out on seeing one of the UK’s finest hip-hop Junkies at the Future Music Festival may take some solace in knowing he is responsible for FabricLive.39.

For those who don’t know, DJ Yoda is known for his eclectic taste in music and is considered by many to be one of the UK’s finest hip-hop exports with critically acclaimed compilations combining everything from fresh hip hop beats with movie soundtracks, crazy sound effects and everything in between.

Those familiar with Yoda’s block rocking style will be hooked right from the start of this seriously classy compilation, which starts with an epic big band intro alluding to the gargantuan performance to follow.

With a couple of unexpected tracks that take you back and mixes that can take you from funky acoustic vibes to some down right heavy club beats in a split second, this mix keeps you guessing right to the very end.

So if you like predictability, you won’t dig this.

With everything from Jurassic 5, an instrumental version of sexual healing, Dubstep and drum and bass in the mix, this compilation has something to suit most, but where this compilation really set’s itself apart is the structure.

With plenty of tricks and some freaking sweet cuts, crabs and scratches DJ Yoda really lives up to the reputation many people would already be familiar with and with DJ Yoda, you know you must expect the unexpected.

Even if you’re not a fan of hip-hop give it a shot and if you already appreciate the broken beat, then this is a must have.

Rating: 4.5 light sabres out of 5.
