{MOVE} FEATURING. HARMONIC 313 a.k.a MARK PRITCHARD [UK] & STEVE SPACEK [UK] SATURDAY 26 JULY @ THE BAKERY

Following from the warped out sounds of Flying Lotus, Theo Parrish and Maurice Fulton, the {move} collective continues to bring the best in international electronic music to Perth’s most discerning dance floors. For their next instalment; {move} featuring Harmonic 313 a.k.a Mark Pritchard and Steve Spacek hits the Bakery in Northbridge.

Techno, house, hip hop and electronic music pioneer for close to 20 years, UK’s Mark Pritchard has worked under a number of aliases including Harmonic 313, Trouble Man, Vertigo (w/Danny Breaks), Global Communication (w/Tom Middleton) and Harmonic 33.  Translating his deep interest in outer space and science fiction into musical form, from hip hop and techno to drum’n’bass and back again, Pritchard casts his unique sense of time and space across a variety of genres, demonstrating his skill and diversity as a producer. As one of the earliest artists to release on the respected Warp label and with a new lp set to drop on the pioneering electronic label later this year, Pritchard sits as a prominent figure in the field of forward thinking electronic production - with credit coming from peers and collaborators including master blaster Aphex Twin, classic Jellyfish maker Danny Breaks and Tom Middleton.

UK producer and vocalist Steve Spacek has moved across a number of musical circles, initially as a member of the three-piece outfit Spacek and more recently as a solo artist. His cosmic twist on soul has received ongoing international kudos from tastemakers such as Gilles Peterson and Mos Def, with Rolling Stone exclaiming that Spacek “gives new meaning to the phrase space funk". Working with artists including his brother D-Bridge from d’n’b duo Bad Company, Australia’s own Katalyst, Detroit’s Platinum Pied Pipers and the legendary beat messiah J Dilla, Steve Spacek pushes future soul back into the present.

As those who caught their last show here in Perth will know, the Mark Pritchard and Steve Spacek sound system journeys across vast musical territories. With remarkable skill and sincerity, Pritchard delivers on the “ones and twos” whilst Spacek toasts on the Mic and provides live vocals throughout. Expect a night of bleeps, bloops and basslines wobblier than a plate of jelly, with heavy doses of soul, funk and inimicable future soundwaves as headliners Harmonic 313 and Steve Spacek throw down an extended 4hr(+!) set. Support comes from 18 year old electronic wunderkind, Marc Kaminski, PMI, Dan The Man and Ben Taaffe.

{move} feat. Harmonic313 and Steve Spacek – Saturday 26th July.

Tickets are $15+BF, available from 78’s, Mills and Planet.
